Colourful Clays
We love to use clays in our soap. They add character beyond their gorgeous gentle hues by contributing to a smooth and slick lather. In cosmetics, these same clays are used for additional skin qualities and, although these might not be equally associated with soap, I will introduce the clays that I use below with an indication of their skin qualities.
Kaolin (white)
Soothing and purifying, Kaolin is gentle and used in cosmetics for sensitive and dehydrated skin.
Red
Stimulating and invigorating, red clay is used in cosmetics for a healthy glow and is suitable for sensitive skin
French Pink
Absorbent and gentle, pink clay is used in cosmetics to brighten and restore sensitive skin
Cambrian Blue
Detoxifying and purifying, blue clay is used in cosmetics for giving a healthy glow and is ideal for mature or oily skin
French Green
Absorbent and clarifying, green clay is used in cosmetics for it's purifying and detoxifying qualities, ideal for oily or acne-prone skin
Activated Charcoal
Technically not a clay but is generally used in the same manner in soap production. Activated charcoal gives a deep blue to black colour. In cosmetic use, it is recognized for deep cleansing and purifying qualities
